Flapjacks

To make 6 large flapjacks.

INGREDIENTS

Porridge Oats - 250g

Golden Syrup - 3 Tbsp

Butter - 125g

Demerara Sugar - 125g

INSTRUCTIONS

1. To start, weigh out 250g of Porridge Oats*

*use jumbo porridge oats

2. Add the Oats to a food processor.

3. Next weigh 125g of Demaria Sugar, and add it to the Oats.

4. Weigh 125g of unsalted Butter.

5. Add the Butter to the food processor.

6. Lastly, add 3 Tbsp of Golden syrup to the Oats, Butter and Sugar, and finish with a pinch of Salt.

7. Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees.

8. Pulse the food processor a few times until the Oats, Butter, Sugar and golden Syrup is thoroughly mixed, and the Oats are slightly blended*

*we want the oats blended but not very fine, we want to keep some texture

9. Line a baking tray with grease proof paper, and grease the inside with a little Butter.

10. Empty the Flapjack mixture out into a baking try.

11. Compress the Flapjack mixture, pushing it into all of the corners.

12. Place the Flapjacks in the oven and bake for around 20-25 minutes*

*we want the top of the flapjacks to be golden brown, and the centre will feel set to the touch

13. Leave the flapjacks to cool down in the tray for an hour, then, gently remove them.

14. Cut the Flapjacks into bite sized bars, and serve.
